December 2024 Student of the Month: Kayla

Meet Kayla

My name is Kayla. I have two amazing bonus kids, 9 and 10 and just welcomed a sweet baby girl to the family who is 5 months old. I’m originally from Alaska but came here to Las Vegas for college and fell in love with a city boy and now Vegas is my home. I’m a stay at home mom who runs an in home childcare and I run my own cleaning company, Wonder Woman Commercial Cleaners. 

When did you start taking classes with PYLV?

When I was found out I was pregnant in 2023 I knew prenatal yoga was something I was interested in. After having not the best experience with a private instructor, by my second semester I found PYLV and after that first class I knew I found what I’d been searching for! Now we’ve graduated from the prenatal classes and enjoy the baby and me ones!

What have you learned since taking classes with PYLV?

I’ve learned a lot in my journey of motherhood and along with that the yoga classes have always been a great reminder to slow down, get in touch with myself, and that it’s okay to give yourself grace. 

What is your favorite yoga pose?

I love any pose that stretches out the lower back as that’s a problem area for me. However since joining the baby and me classes it’s been really funny to incorporate little one into the poses and see her light up! 

How has your practice impact your parenting?

I always feel rejuvenated after a class and ready to tackle the day! I have gained relaxation and stress relieving tools that help me show up as my best self for kids and for myself. 

What would you tell a new parent considering taking prenatal or baby & me yoga classes?

I 100% recommend classes at PYLV. Of course the classes themselves are great, you learn a lot and move your body in ways geared towards motherhood, but what really stands out to me is the community and safe space that has been curated. As a more introverted person, that has been something difficult to find. Everyone is so welcoming and it’s easily the highlight of my week!
