July 2026 Student of the Month: Megan

Meet Megan

My name is Megan Kolvenbach, and I am currently expecting identical twin girls in August!! I work at UNLV, helping to train staff on Salesforce. My background is a bit eclectic as I've found that I have many different interests and love going to school. I originally obtained my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and worked as an academic advisor for several years before obtaining another degree in Information Systems and pivoting into technology. Now I get to combine my passion for education with my tech skills in a job that I really love. On the personal side, I love matcha, pomeranians, and anything with a mushroom on it.

When did you start taking classes with PYLV?

I started taking classes with PYLV as soon as I found out that I was pregnant, so at about 6 weeks, before I even knew that we were expecting twins! This was back in January. I wanted to prepare my body for pregnancy, labor, and recovery as early and as best as I could.

What have you learned since taking classes with PYLV?

Classes with PYLV (and pregnancy, in general) have taught me to slow down, listen to my body, and the importance of breathwork for literally all aspects of life.

What is your favorite yoga pose?

When I don't have a huge belly, pigeon pose is my favorite. I love how much it opens my hips and stretches my IT band. Right now, at 34 weeks pregnant, runner's lunge is feeling great for my inner thighs.

How has your practice impacted your parenting?

My practice has helped me feel more connected to my babies before ever even meeting them! The breathwork that is part of every class has given me a chance to be mindful and intentional about the energy that I am directing out into the world and taking in. I know that once my girls are here, yoga will continue to help me be more present and patient with them.

What would you tell a new parent considering taking prenatal or baby & me yoga classes?

It is never too late to try something new (or get back into a healthy habit)! Progress is never linear, so if something feels challenging now, that is okay. Have patience with yourself and remember that each new day is a chance to reset your mind and choices. You can do hard things!
