October 2026 Student of the Month: Jessica
Meet Jessica
My name is Jessica. I have a 3-year-old and a newborn baby, both boys :) I have worked in early childhood education my whole career, from preschool teacher to kindergarten teacher, to starting my own in-home, child-development-focused daycare program when my first son came along. I love being outside, music and concerts, and enjoying the simple things in life.
When did you start taking classes with PYLV?
I took my first class with PYLV back in 2023, when my first baby was about 3 months old. It was so refreshing to do something for myself as a new mom, but also to be in a space that normalizes motherhood and postpartum, and welcomes babies and all that comes with bringing our babies along.
What have you learned since taking classes with PYLV?
I have learned to care more for myself, be present, and be in community. It’s okay wherever you are at that day or in that phase of life. You deserve to meet yourself in that moment and be a part of a community through it all.
What is your favorite yoga pose?
Lately, I have really enjoyed child’s pose—especially during the third trimester. It also helped me in early labor :)
How has your practice impacted your parenting?
It has helped me be more accepting of myself, and I think that translates to my little ones. They sense that, and hopefully know they can be themselves too and that their needs are important.
What would you tell a new parent considering taking prenatal or baby & me yoga classes?
Do it! It is such a welcoming space. Go as you are and enjoy it. No worries if scheduling and consistency are tough. I have not always been able to prioritize it, but when I can, I never regret it. It’s a highlight of my week every time.
