Yoga Prop Guide
Yoga props are a MUST have for your at-home practice (especially for our friends who are pregnant!) Yoga props are not are crutch or mean you are weak. Yoga props helps to add space, length, increase challenge and create a comfortable restorative experience.
Questions I get all the time is where did I get my props? How much do they cost? While you can certainly practice without props, they provide support and help you get into the mental state for your practice. In this article we will explore different yoga props, pricing, brands as well as at-home substitute.

Yoga Mats - Yoga mats are foundation of every yoga practice. Most mats are made of synthetic material known as PVC but there are now more earth friendly options coming into the market. You can purchase mats easily at Target, Walmart, discount stores, or yoga retailers.
Some favorite brands: Gaiam, Jade (high quality and eco-friendly), Manduka
Price range - $20-120
At-home Substitute - Towel, blanket, rug, mat or nothing
Blocks - Blocks are my second must have prop and they are relatively inexpensive. Blocks vary in thickness and material. Cheap foam blocks tend to be less sturdy than name brand yoga blocks.
My favorite brands: Hugger Mugger 4” foam block ($16.95)
Price range: $10-30
At-home Substitute - Books, chair
Straps - Straps are another relatively inexpensive prop. The main differences between straps are the length and the buckle being plastic or metal. Straps come in 6ft, 8ft and 10ft in length. I prefer the 8ft length, but if you are taller the 10ft might be a better option.
My favorite brands: Hugger Mugger
Price range: $5-20
At-home Substitute - Bathrobe belt, belt, resistance band
Bolsters - Bolsters are a wonderful prop to really enhance your yoga experience. Bolsters vary in shape, quality and size. Cheaper bolsters made with cheaper materials tend to not be as firm as higher quality bolsters.
My favorite brands: Half Moon 24” Rectangular
Price range: $20-150
At-home Substitute - Rolled towels or blankets
