100-hr Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training Program
Course Overview


Our Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training is over 100-hours and is a comprehensive program designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to confidently teach prenatal yoga. This Yoga Alliance approved course covers a range of topics, ensuring a well-rounded and in-depth understanding of prenatal yoga instruction.

We believe that learning is best over a period of time to apply knowledge and skills learned. Our program takes a comprehensive, offering training in two main sections, plus two weekly series, practicum and electives. Our goal is develop highly qualified and confident yoga teachers.

  • Prenatal Yoga 101 (5 hours)

    Female Anatomy & Human Reproduction (5 hours)
    - Fertility Hormones
    - Female Anatomy Overview
    - Human Reproduction Overview
    - Fertility Yoga

    The Goddesses of Yoga (5 hours)

    Learn about the Goddesses of Yoga and how they relate to pregnancy, birth and parenting. Trainees will learn about Lakshmi, Durga, Kali and Parvati.

    - Teaching Beginners and Advance Students
    - Teaching for Each Trimester

  • Prenatal Teaching Methods & Skills (10 hours)
    - Basic Teaching Skills
    - Elements - Classroom elements and environment.
    - Design – Class design and sequence.
    - Cues – Thoughtful and inspiring prenatal yoga cues.
    - Theming – Transformational class themes.

    Teaching for Pregnancy Conditions (15 hours)
    - Learn over 30 different pregnancy conditions
    - Practice teaching for pregnancy conditions

  • Postnatal Yoga and Baby & Me (5 hours)

    PYLV Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training Program is an in depth study of the postpartum period. Teachers will learn the physiology of the postnatal body, perinatal mood disorders, how to teach postnatal classes including baby and me, cultivating community and much more.

    Yoga for Pelvic Health (5 hours)

    Pelvic health refers to the well-being of the muscles, ligaments, and tissues in the pelvic area. This area includes the bladder, reproductive organs, and bowels. Both men and women have a pelvic floor and can experience pelvic floor disorders. Maintaining good pelvic health is essential for daily activities like going to the bathroom, sexual function, and even activities like walking and exercising.

  • Yoga for Birth & Comfort Measures (2.5 hours)

    In person, Yoga for Birth & Comfort Measures workshop. Trainees will learn alongside pregnant couples to understand the stages of labor and how they can prepare for birth. If trainee has attended a previous childbirth education class within 12 months of training, that may fulfill this section.

  • Practicum is divided into two parts, Observation and Supervised Teaching.

    Observation (15 hours total)
    Prenatal Hours

    • 6 with Angela Reis

    • 4 with any Prenatal Yoga Teacher

    Postnatal Hours

    • 5 Hours

    Supervised Teaching (15 hours)
    Trainees will practice teaching prenatal yoga classes under the guidance of a Lead Trainer. Supervised teaching may start anytime. Check with Lead Trainer for Practicum Schedule.

    • 10 hours as Student

    • 10 hours as a Lead Teacher teaching Prenatal Yoga

    • 5 hours as a Lead Teacher teaching Postnatal Yoga

  • Trainees are required to fulfill 5 contact or non-contact elective hours. Electives can be additional classes, workshops or events attended through PYLV or community classes outside of PYLV. Trainees may elect to complete a special project under guidance of Lead Trainer. All electives must be selected with guidance of Lead Trainer.
