OUR VALUES

The Prenatal Yoga Las Vegas Difference

VALUES

PYLV values guide how we teach, practice and live.

We know that you have options when it comes to yoga and movement practices. Pregnancy and parenting is a special and unique time in a person’s life. We believe that all growing families deserve to be respected, nurtured and supported. We hold our teachers and community to a high standard of values. These values guide us through simple tasks to big decision making.

#1 Everyone Feels Safe and Welcome - PYLV is an inclusive community. We want everyone who joins our classes to feel safe, nurtured, and supported.

#2 Living Your Yoga - Yoga is not something that just happens on the mat. Following and practicing the teachings of the 8 limbs of yoga as set forth by Indian Sage Patanjali.

#3 Student Centered Teaching - Meet students where they are. Teach within scope of practice. Offer various options. This doesn’t mean unchallenging practice.

#4 Student Empowerment - We as teachers, are guides. We cannot promise any results. The benefits from your practice will be dependent on your effort. We expect you to listen to your body and not push yourself past your limits. Rest as you need to and join back when you’re ready. Yoga is not a competition or destination.

#5 Education and resources - We provide evidence based information and resources when appropriate.

#6 Decolonization

  • We wish to acknowledge the Indigenous communities of the region in which PYLV is located on the traditional homelands of the Nuwuvi, Southern Paiute People.

  • We wish to acknowledge the ancient practice of yoga developed by Indigenous people that have origins in Egypt and the Indus Valley.

  • We strive to reduce and eliminate barriers to marginalized groups in the practice of yoga and other related issues.

#7 Spiritual Bypassing - (What is spiritual bypassing? Spiritual bypassing is the use of spirituality, spiritual practices in order to avoid, deflect, detach from a difficult issue or topic.) We do not offer false positivity or fear mongering. Part of the practice is sitting with discomfort and feelings. Yoga is not a replacement for mental health therapies. Yoga teachers are not therapists.

Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.
